Images took for ancillary tasks

For our ancillary tasks we wanted an image not shown on our video but what you could still relate to the band. We came up with the idea of using an entrance of two doors to fit in with the band name. Luckily found two blue doors which fits in with our house colors and placed one of our star image motifs to personalise it more. The door is quite nicely surrounded by ivy which fits in nicely with our video as most of it is shown outside near similar settings ,hedges, grass, trees and fields.
We took a varitey of shots from different distances , brightness ,portrait and lanscape to pick a suitable image for our anciallry tasks.I have annotated each image on lighting distance, features on flickr click here to view

House colors

The house colors we are using our blue cherry red, and white. We will use this for our font and in background, header and band-related imagery on our website and album cover and keep it consistent in both. We will also feature star images from the website such as the clown character used , the red heart balloon, and a new image took of two blue doors which all three will add to brand identity and our featured of the house colors.

Making the website

I did lots of initial research before making a music video into the concepts of a website and have decided to make a website rather than a magazine advert as it would suit our target audience more , its easier to adapt up to date and change , its a live and more accesible way of gaining information and thought it would add kmore depth and breadth to the brand identity .To make our website we started using a website called bandzoogle.com , however to make our website live using this website we would have to pay membership fees, so we tried the trial to get some ideas of templates and a flat plan and here our the urls of two ideas for web-design.
Here is our first attempt t-shirt website
We liked this idea but it did not fit with the same style as our album cover and proved difficult on our new web-page designed with serif. So we started a new idea to fit with our album cover which was the idea of two doors and being outsife using our star image motif, of a red heart baloon.
Here is a print screen of our home page created on serif.

To create this we set a background by setting a theme and editing it to upload an image , we then added the text on top in our designed typography. I then inserted the picture logo for our font two door cinema club then edited it to white. We then hyperlinked the header bar and all the words we wanted highlighted. We tried adding an embed code of our video into the website but this does not show when the website is live .
We then added crucial social networking buttons like these and hyperlinked them

We then had to make the website live this . Our original plan was to publish live through the Serif Page Plus, but this was difficult as you had to have domain account and password. We then found a host site, http://www.angelcities.com where we didn’t have to but a domain and could use for free in exchange for ads in the top left of the screen. However we still couldn’t publish live through the domain settings, so we exported the document in serif as a picture and uploaded it on angelcities.com and managed to get our site live.

What is a digipack? and how are we going to make it ? .

A digipack is basically the same as an ambum/cd cover but with all the dimensions and folds, to make it into the cd packaging. The most common dimensions of a cd cover design are 57cm x 14.5cm . 57cm is for 4 panels of 14cm each and a spine. The digi pack can flip open like a book can have three parts so that one side opens to the left and one side opens to the right .The digipack must have an envelope or casing- usually a plastic press to store the dvd/cd , this is usually encased in front of a piece or paper.
We want to do ours as a three fold , here is a template i found on the internet.

Typography

To give our artists a brand identity we will have to keep a certain style with them and show the band displayed in a certain way one of the ways we can do this is by the typography , the font, logo and house color.
Here our some samples for logo : They are all in black at the moment but we may explore the color once we know the house colors a bit more.

For the website font , from looking at other websites we have decided that the font needs to be basic and easy to read but also in keeping to the brand's identity .We may use a mix of fonts on our website but no more than three here our some ideas .

Final decision- post update
In the end we decided to use candy buzz and a completely different font called tpf rubber ducky from www.cooltext.com
tpf rubber ducky

Comments on Editing using I movie so far

So far our editing has gone well. We are wanting to use i movie for several effects such as colouristaion, changing the speed, precision editing for lip synching and instument playing, and audio effetcs. It has been difficult trying to get the shot cuts on the time of the music and we have found that it is defitnetly easier to do everything from the beginning then going back and changing things as the timing is then out. Here are some of the effects we have used.
This is a general shot of us moving our shots into the music timeline.

Sunday 31st October

We filmed the last bit of filming before we edit today and this was of the performance shots of the band featured in shots 1,2 and other cuts between scenes. We used my mates band room to film in which has a drum kit, guitars and bass which were used by the actors in time to music. Was difficult at times getting different angles in one room , but think we managed to get a wide range of effective shots.

Filming -Thursday 28th October

Today we were alot more succesful with the filming , it was alot more darker and we manage to get the light in the right place in order to see the shot effectively, so these shot will replace the original shots 20-24 on the storyboards and this scene will be featured just before the end.

Filming Monday 25th october

In our original storyboard in shots 22-25 we have the guy getting the girl by the use of space hoppers , however we could not get access to space hoppers and thought they would be difficult to film so we chose to do the idea of candle writing , which we will include in our 2nd draft of our storyboard.
Today we had planned to film the candle scene shaped in a question mark , except we wanted to do the shot in the dark to show the light effectively however it was raining outside and we didnt have the right lighting or space inside, we have took some shots of our filming inside but have planned to re-film this sunday.
